Auf den Flügeln des Morgenroths Über weinende Fluren hin Schwebt der Seufzer meines Herzens Meiner Betty entgegen. Ach, im täuschenden Träume sah Ich ihr himmlisches Angesicht, Freundlich lächelte die Holde. (O, was ist sie ein Engel!) Sprach: "Mein Liebling, ich liebe dich!" Küsste zärtlich das Auge mir; ach, und sank in diese Arme, an den schwellenden Busen. Und ich wusste nicht, wie mir war! Wonneschauer durchbebten mich; Tag und Licht ward um mich Dämmerung, Frühling glänzt auf der Heide. Noch umgaukelt der Traum mich. Noch, sieh, noch halt ich sie fest umarmt! Ach da schwindet er -- ich rufe: Betty, Betty, wo bist du? Und auf Flügeln des Morgenroths Schwebt der sehnende Seufzer hin; Hin zu ihr: O meine Betty! Betty, Betty, wo bist du?
