Das Schlachtfeld

Language: German (Deutsch)

Der Mond blickt über die Heide
So freundlich und so mild
Und rings im blutigen Kleide
Starrt schaurig das Gefild.

Zu Ende sind alle die [Neigen]1,
Die hier sich lustig gerührt,
Die Schlachtdromnieten schweigen
Die schmetternd zum Tanze geführt.

Und viele hat Schlummer umfangen
Bei klirrendem Schwerterklang,
Hinweg sind andre gegangen
[Mit]2 Flöten und Gesang.

Ermüdet blieben vom Tanze
Auch manche der Gäste zurück,
Und senden zum zitternden Glanze
Des Mondes den brechenden Blick.

Der Mond blickt über die Heide
So freundlich und so mild,
Und rings im blutigen Kleide
Starrt schaurig das Gefild.
