a za nim, jak za łódeczką, łódeczką,
białe gęsie i kacze pióreczka.
Tak płyną, płyną,tak biegą, biegą
w dół, do Morza Śródziemnego.
A to Morze Śródziemne jest błękitne a ciemne,
przypływ się w nim porusza
jak zwierz nieuśnięty i kołysze się wszystko:
puszki, piórka, łódki, ptaki i okręty.

Eines nach dem andern ziehen sanft im Strome
flausch'ger Flaum, gleich hinterdrein, wie kleine Nachen
weiße Federn - Federchen von Enten, Gänsen.
Und so fahren sie hinunter, fahren bis zum
Mittelmeere und das ist so blau, so dunkel
und die Flut bewegt es, hebt es
wie ein Tier, das Schlaf nicht findet -
und so tanzt und schaukelt alles:
Fläumchen, Federn, Nachen, Vögel, und die Schiffe.
