la fiamma dal puro alabastro
le immemori palpebre tenta;
bussa alla chiusa anima. il lume
vacilla nell'ombra, come astro
di vita tra un velo di brume.
Echeggia nell'anima, invasa
dal sonno, quel battere,
e pare destare la tacita casa.
la casa si desta: un sorriso
s'accende, si muove ed appare,
via via qua e là per il viso...
la vergine sogna; ed un rivo
di sangue stupisce le intatte
sue vene, d'un sangue più vivo,
più tiepido: come di latte...
