Im Himmel ist ein Karussell, das dreht sich Tag und Nacht. Es dreht sich wie im Traum so schnell, wir sehn es nicht, es ist zu hell aus lauter Licht gemacht; still, mein Wildfang, gib acht! Gib acht, es dreht die Sterne, du, im ganzen Himmelsraum. Es dreht die Sterne ohne Ruh und macht Musik, Musik dazu, so fein, wir hören's kaum; wir hören's nur im Traum. Im Traum, da hören wir's von fern, von fern im Himmel hell. Drum träumt mein Wildfang gar so gern, wir drehn uns mit auf einem Stern; es geht uns nicht zu schnell, das große Karussell.
