by Joseph Karl Benedikt, Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788 - 1857)

Schlag mit den flamm'gen Flügeln!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schlag mit den flamm'gen Flügeln!
Wenn Blitz aus Blitz sich reißt:
Steht wie in Rossesbügeln
So ritterlich mein Geist.

Waldesrauschen, Wetterblicken
Macht recht die Seele los,
Da grüßt sie mit Entzücken,
Was wahrhaft, ernst und groß.

Es schiffen die Gedanken
Fern wie auf weitem Meer,
Wie auch die Wogen schwanken:
Die Segel schwellen mehr.

Herr Gott, es wacht dein Wille,
Ob Tag und Lust verwehn,
Mein Herz wird mir so stille
Und wird nicht untergehn.
