Note provided by Johann Winkler: the text in the autograph of the Jensen song has been struck out (with a single stroke, so that it is still perfectly readable) and replaced by another hand, which the BSB lector ascribes to the composer's daughter Elsbeth; the text appears to be a translation from Turandot, Act 2 Scene 1 and reads as follows:
Erringen muss ich mir den höchsten Liebespreis, in meinem Herzen pocht die Sehnsucht schnell und heiß. Und königliches Blut rinnt in den Adern mir; nur unerhörter Zwang hält mich gefesselt hier. Getötet hast du mir den Bruder grausam schon, entreiße mir nicht auch den süßen Liebeslohn! Mit List dien' ich, mein Wort erfüll' ich treu. Wenn ich ihn mir gewann, mach' ich dir Schmerz aufs Neu'. Denn Liebe fühlst du schon, willst es nur nicht gesteh'n. O Himmel, ja, wer könnte ohne Lieb' ihn seh'n!
