so kaut ho kastar Hovde og skodar seg ikring.
So friskleg Kinna blömer, med Augo gjeva Glans,
og i dei Smiledokker der er det Leik og Dans.
Eg ser som gröne Lier og Fjordar, Foss og Fjell
og fagraste blaae Skyer d'er Signe, som alt dette veld.

Une perdrix des neiges a volé vers moi
sur son aile légère avec son cœur farouche.
Une biche des hautes bruyères est venue d’un trait,
elle tourne la tête et regarde autour d’elle.
Ses joues rosissent, ses yeux brillent,
et ses fossettes recèlent le jeu et la danse.
Je vois de verts coteaux, des criques, des cascades et des monts
et de gracieux nuages bleus dans le regard de Signe.
