Minun aikanani, minun aikanani oli vielä olemassa oikeutta ja kohtuutta. Silloin lapsista kasvoi ihmisiä, siveistä tytöistä morsiamia; mutta kaikki tapahtui säädyllisesti. Oi niitä aikoja, hienoja aikoja ! Kenestäkään nuorukaisesta ei tullut petturia, ja neitosemme avioituivat kypsässä iässä, eivätkä aiheuttaneet huolia äidilleen. Oi niitä aikoja, hienoja aikoja ! Minun aikanani, minun aikanani osattiin pitää salaisuuksia. Kun nuori mies sai osakseen naisen suosion, hän oli kiitollinen ja osasi vaieta; mutta nyt hän paljastaa kaiken röyhkeästi. Oi näitä aikoja, surkeita aikoja ! Äidinvaistojen herääminen, ennenaikainen kiinnostus rakkauteen saa nyt tytöt valtaansa jo pikkumekkoiässä. Oi näitä aikoja, surkeita aikoja ! Minun aikanani, minun aikanani ei velvollisuutta ja järjestystä poljettu lokaan.
