Ó, asszonyom, nem önt szeretem én, de még a bájos Julia se bájol, nem félek a fehér Opheliától és nem gyulok fel Laura szemén. A kedvesem ott él Kínába kinn; agg szüleivel lakik ő nyugodtan egy hosszú, vékony porcelántoronyban a Sárga-folyó zúgó partjain. Ferdült szemében álmodó szigor, tenyérbe vágyik karcsú, könnyű lába, a bőre villog, mint rézfényű lámpa, hosszúkás körme kármintól bibor. Olykor kibukkan a fátyol alol, fölötte csendbe csicsereg a fecske, s ő minden este álmodón, repesve barackvirágról, fűzfáról dalol.
