In Welschland, wo die braunen
Buben vom Straßenrand
In die heiße Bläue staunen,
Da bin ich wohl bekannt.
Dort wachsen schwarze Bäume
Wie Fackeln steil und schlank,
Die machen dir alle Träume
Von welscher Liebe krank.
Dort schlagen blaue Wellen
An [golden]1 braunen Stein,
Dir fallen dabei viel Stellen
Aus den schönsten Liedern ein.
Und wo drei Bäume stehen,
Das nennen sie einen Wald,
Darunter siehst du gehen
Manch schöne Frauengestalt.
Und wenn dir eine gegeben
Einen Kuß auf deinen Mund,
So bist du krank fürs Leben
Und wirst nicht mehr gesund.

A Itàlia, on els nois morens
des del voral dels carrers
admiren el càlid atzur,
allà sóc ben conegut.
Allà creixen arbres negres
rectes i esvelts com brandons,
que fan de tots els teus somnis
una italiana malaltia d’amor.
Allà ones blaves baten
daurades roques brunes,
i així et recorden molts passatges
de les més belles cançons.
I on hi ha tres arbres
ho anomenen un bosc,
dessota hi veus passar
moltes formoses dones.
I quan una d’elles t’ha fet
un petó a la boca,
aleshores emmalalteixes per vida
i no et guareixes mai més.
