La blondinette en gondole L'autre soir, j'ai emmenée : De plaisir la pauvrette S'est aussitôt endormie. Elle dormait sur mon bras, Moi, je la réveillais de temps en temps, Mais la barque qui balançait La faisait se rendormir. Était, dans le ciel, à demi cachée La lune, au travers des nuages. La lagune était calme, Le vent était doux Seule une très légère brise Agitait ses cheveux Et faisait en sorte que ses voiles Ne masquent davantage le sein. En contemplant fixement Les traits de ma bien-aimée, Ce petit visage si lisse, Cette bouche et ce gentil sein ; Je sentais dans ma poitrine Une agitation, un trouble, Une espèce de bonheur Que je sais comment expliquer. Finalement, j'en ai eu assez, De son trop long sommeil, Et j'ai fait l'insolent, Je n'ai pas eu à le regretter, Car, mon Dieu, que de belles choses N'ai-je dites et n'ai-je faites !
