Alles erblick ich im Glas, Alte und neue Völkergeschichte, Türken und Griechen, Hegel und Gans, Zitronenwälder und Wachtparaden, Berlin und Schilda und Tunis und Hamburg, Vor allem aber das Bild der Geliebten, Das Engelköpfchen auf Rheinweingoldgrund. O, wie schön! wie schön bist du, Geliebte! Du bist wie eine Rose! Nicht wie die Rose von Schiras, Die hafisbesungene Nachtigallbraut; Nicht wie die Rose von Saron, Die heiligrote, prophetengefeierte; - Du bist wie die Ros im Ratskeller zu Bremen! Je découvre tout dans un verre, L'histoire ancienne et nouvelle des peuples, Des turcs et des grecs, de Hegel et Gans, Des forêts de citronniers et des parades militaires, De Berlin et Schilda, et de Tunis et Hambourg, Mais avant tout l'image de ma bien-aimée, Sa petite tête sur fond doré de vin du Rhin.
