Vellet, tu també fores jove una vegada i tingueres una estimada als braços, ara ets massa enterc per a la dansa dels set salts, així que toca el violí i canta per animar-te. I no em facis aquesta cara de pomes agres, no tots els vins poden ser tan dolços com la mel, ni tan clars com la llum, ni tan de bon beure com el xerigot. El vi novell alegra, Ànim! Salut! Bé, encara que piqui una mica té quelcom lleuger, quelcom suau i amorós, del que ningú ha encara esclatat. Vés a la merda amb el teu bramul de vigilant nocturn! Jo ho puc fer millor, tu neci, sembla que serris i rasquis per fer mal a les orelles i fas veu de nas com el nostre senyor capellà. Dóna’m el violí! Ara, noies, atenció! Arremangueu-vos les faldilles, el peu dret, l’esquerre, aquí i allà! Ara, salteu com la llebre del cau. I ara? Te n’adones, vellard? Ara t’animes?
