Zwei Raben saßen auf einem Zweig, an Schwärze kam ihnen keines gleich. Der Eine zu dem Andern sprach: Wo speisen wir denn am heutigen Tag? Dort unten so tief im grünen Gefild', da liegt ein Ritter erschlagen auf seinem Schild. Und niemand weiß, dass er dorten blieb, als sein Falke, sein Hind und sein treues Lieb'! Es hat sein Hund sich fortgemacht, sein Falke ist auf weiter Jagd! Sein Liebchen, das ist mit 'nem Andern fort, so halten wir sicher unser Mahl nun dort! Dein Lager ist dort nackt und kahl, wenn der Wintersturm saust durch das Tal! Zum Haupte den Rasen, zu Füßen den Stein schläft er und vernimmt nicht des Mädchens Pein. Und über sein Gebein der Vogel sich schwingt, die Füchse, sie heulen, das wilde Reh springt.
