Seht ihr's dort funkeln in rosiger Pracht! Es glänzet das Frührot so milde; Auf, Brüder! munter! Diana lacht, Schon lebt's im Hain, im Gefilde. Nicht länger gefrönet der schläfrigen Ruh, Die Jagd beut schönere Stunden, Wir eilen dem schattigen Walde zu, Umklafft von munteren Hunden. Schön schmeckt es im Grünen bei fröhlicher Rast, Viel besser als heim der Klause, Die schattige Eiche wird unser Palast, Und Frohsinn herrschet beim Schmause. Uns spendet die Quelle den labenden Trank, Es rufen die schallenden Hörner, Wir winden uns mutig zum buschigen Hang Durch Brombeer, Ranken und Dörner. Dort zeigt sich der Eber, der Hirsch mit Geweih, Und lauschet an rieselnder Quelle, Doch krachend trifft sie das tötende Blei, Stark schweissend blümt sich die Stelle. Viel Freuden beut uns die herrliche Jagd, Sie macht uns so rüstig, so munter, Am Abend ist lustiges Waidwerk vollbracht, Froh geht's zur Heimat hinunter.

Dort zeigt sich der Eber, das Hirschengeweih, Sie nah'n sich der rieselnden Quelle, Und krachend trifft sie das tödliche Blei, Es bleibt das Tier auf der Stelle. So geht es bis an die nahende Nacht, Die Jagd macht uns rüstig und munter; Am Abend ist lustiges Waidwerk vollbracht, Froh geht's zur Heimat hinunter.

Le voyez-vous là, étincelant dans une splendeur rose ? L'aurore brille si doucement ; Debout, frères ! éveillez-vous ! Diane sourit, Déjà on vit dans le bois, dans les champs. Aussi ne clignez pas des yeux plus longtemps, le sommeil est fini, La chasse promet des heures plus agréables, Nous nous hâtons vers les bois ombragés, Entourés par les aboiements des chiens joyeux. Cela a bon goût dans la verdure lors du repos joyeux, Bien meilleur qu'entre quatre murs ; Le puissant chêne est notre palais, Son ombre nous offrira sa fraîcheur. La source rafraîchit l'assoiffé de sa boisson, Les cors appellent en chœur ; Nous escaladons la pente broussailleuse Au milieu des mûres, des sarments et des pins. Là le sanglier se montre ainsi que les bois du cerf, Ils s'approchent de la source qui coule, Et dans un fracas le plomb fatal les frappe, L'animal gît sur place. Ainsi on continue jusqu'à la nuit qui s'approche, La chasse nous rend vigoureux et vifs ; Le soir le joyeux travail de la chasse est terminé, Gaiement nous redescendons vers nos maisons.
