In meiner Liebsten Garten
die lange schwarze Nacht
wollt ich wol gerne warten,
bis daß sie mir aufgemacht.

Viel weiße Liljen blühen um
tieftiefen Brunnens Schlund;
drin funkeln die goldnen Sterne,
drin glänzt der silberne Mond.

Und wie in den Brunnen schauen
die lieben Sterne hinein,
ist mir ins Herze gefallen
Deiner lieben Augen Schein.

Die Sterne an dem Himmel,
die stehen gar so fern;
in meiner Liebsten Garten,
da ständ ich gar so gern.

Dans mon jardin préféré,
durant la longue nuit noire,
j'attendrais bien volontiers
jusqu'à ce qu'elle m'ouvre.

De nombreux lis blancs fleurissent autour
de la profonde, profonde gorge d'une fontaine ;
les étoiles d'or y étincellent,
la lune d'argent y brille.

Et comme les chères étoiles regardent
Au fond de la fontaine,
mon cœur est séduit
par la lumière de Tes yeux chéris.

Dans le ciel les étoiles
sont bien loin ;
dans mon jardin préféré,
je suis bien volontiers.
