In solchen Nächten werden die Sterbenden...

Language: German (Deutsch)

In solchen Nächten werden die Sterbenden klar,
greifen sich leise ins wachsende Haar,
dessen Halme aus ihres Schädels Schwäche
in diesen langen Tagen treiben,
als wollten sie über der Oberfläche
des Todes bleiben.
Ihre Gebärde geht durch das Haus
als wenn überall Spiegel hingen;
und sie geben - mit diesem Graben
in ihren Haaren - Kräfte aus,
die sie in Jahren gesammelt haben,
welche vergingen.

En de telles nuits les mourants...

Language: French (Français) after the German (Deutsch)

En de telles nuits les mourants comprennent,
ils se saisissent doucement de leurs cheveux qui poussent,
dont les pousses sortent de la faiblesse de leurs crânes
durant ces jours si longs,
comme s'ils voulaient rester
au-dessus de la surface de la mort.
Leur geste traverse la maison
comme si des miroirs étaient partout accrochés ;
et en fouillant dans leurs cheveux,
ils dépensent les forces
qu'ils ont amassées durant des années,
et qui disparaissent.
