Geschwätzig die Bäche nun rinnen.

Die Schwalbe, die kehret zum wirtlichen Dach,
Sie baut sich so emsig ihr bräutlich Gemach,
Die Liebe soll wohnen da drinnen.

Sie bringt sich geschäftig von kreuz und von quer
Manch weicheres Stück zu dem Brautbett [hierher]1,
Manch wärmendes Stück für die Kleinen.

Nun wohnen die Gatten beisammen so treu,
Was Winter geschieden, verband nun der Mai,
Was liebet, das weiß er zu einen.

Es kehret der Maien, es blühet die Au.

los vientos soplan suaves y tibios. 
Los arroyos corren bulliciosos. 
La golondrina la retorna a su morada, 
y laboriosa construye su cámara nunpcial, 
pues en ella habitará el amor. 

Activa trae de aquí y de allá 
trocitos para la cama de la novia, 
y trocitos de comida para los pequeños. 

Ya los esposos están unidos, 
lo que el invierno separó, mayo lo unió, 
pues todo lo que ama sabe unir. 

Ha vuelto mayo, florecen las praderas, 
los vientos soplan suaves y tibios. 
Solo yo no puedo moverme de aquí. 

Si todo lo que ama lo une la primavera, 
solo para nuestro amor no hay primavera
