Jeder wackre Bergmann lebe,
D'rauf, ihr Brüder, leert das Glas,
Ob ihn Tagesglanz umwebe,
Ob er schlafe unterm Gras!
 
Jeder wackre Bergmann lebe,
Der da Klotz and Fäustel schwingt,
Daß der Schacht die Erze gebe,
Die nur Muth zu Tage bringt.
 
Jeder wackre Bergmann lebe,
Der noch treuen Sinn bewahrt,
Und ein guter Engel schwebe
Stets um ihn auf Baum und Fahrt.
 
Jeder wackre Bergmann lebe,
Wie ihn Nacht und Grau'n umweht,
Jeder nütze, jeder strebe,
Bis der Bau zusammengeht!

Cheers to every valiant miner,
Drain your glasses to that, my brethren,
Whether he be wreathed in the radiance of day,
Whether he be sleeping under the grass!
 
Cheers to every valiant miner,
Who swings club and sledgehammer,
So that the shaft may yield the ores
That are brought to the light of day only by courage.
 
Cheers to every valiant miner
Who still maintains a faithful spirit,
And may a good angel always hover
Around him upon spool and descent.
 
Cheers to every valiant miner;
As he is surrounded by night and horrors,
May everyone benefit, everyone strive
Until the work comes together!
