Mutely I ride out of the tournament, I bear the names of all victories. I bow before the balcony of the ladies -- Deeply. But not one of them waves to me. I sing to the sounds of the harp From which the deep tones rise; All the harpers listen and fall silent, But the lovely ladies have departed. In the black field of my coat of arms There hang a hundred wreaths, Golden they boast of a hundred victories, But the wreath of love is missing. At my coffin there shall bow Knights and singers and shall Cover it with laurel and pale jasmine, But no rose shall adorn it.
