Frau Nachtigall
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Frau Nachtigall, kleins Waldvöglein,
Flieg [durch den]1 Sonnenstrahl,
Und sing recht in die Welt hinein
Ein Lied vom Schwarzathal!
Und grüßen sollst du von mir schön
Gar manches liebe Herz,
Und denken soll's an jene Höh'n,
An Wanderlust und Scherz.
Frau Nachtigall, nun flieg hinaus
Und gelt, verstehst mich schon,
Richt [gar]3 den Gruß recht lustig aus,
So recht im Wanderton!
Die Zeit ist hin, der Duft entfloh,
Der bunte Strauß ist fahl,
Im Herzen aber klinget froh
Das Lied vom Schwarzathal.

Madame Nightingale
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Madame Nightingale, little forest bird,
Fly [through]1 the sunbeam
And sing wholeheartedly into the world
A song of the Schwarza-valley!
And nicely you are to give greetings from me
To many a dear heart,
And it should think of those heights,
Of the joy of wandering and of jesting.
Madame Nightingale, now fly out
And sure, you understand me already,
Deliver the greeting quite merrily,
Quite in the tone of wandering!
The time has passed, the scent has vanished,
The colourful bouquet is pallid,
But in my heart rings joyfully on
The song of the Schwarza-valley.
