Мне настоящий опустел.
На все в зираю равнодушно,
дышать уныньем мой удел.

Напрасно летнею порою
любовник рощиц и лугов
колышит розой полевою,
летя с тенистых берегов.

Напрасно поздняя зарница
мерцает в темноте ночной,
и в зыбких облаках денница
разлита пламенной рекой.

Иль день багряный вечереет
и тихо тускнет неба свод,
и клён на месяце белеет,
склонясь на берег синих вод.

Вчера вечерней темнотою,
когда пустычная луна
текла туманною стезею,
я видел: дева у окна.

Одна задумчиво сидела,
дышала в тайном страхе грудь,
она с волнением глядела,
на тёмный под холмами путь.
