Auf dem großen Teiche Schwimmen weiße Schwäne, Und am grünen Ufer Sitzt ein fchönes Mädchen. In den Lüften droben Kreischt ein schwarzer Rabe; In den Schooß des Mädchens Fällt ein goldnes Ringlein. Woher haft du, Rabe, Dieses goldne Ringlein? Ich kenn' dieses Ringlein, Hab es von der Mutter, Trug es dann drei Jahre Und gab es dem Jüngling Der mich jeden Sonntag Hat nach Haus getragen. Und der Rabe sagte: Frag' nicht nach dem Ringlein Und nicht nach dem Jüngling Der dich jeden Sonntag Hat nach Haus getragen: Denn roth ist mein Schnabel, Und in ferne Lande Zog in's Feld dein Jüngling.
