Písen Čecha

Kde můj je kraj, kde má je vlast?
To jméno má největší slast!
Není to blud, není to klam,
zemi českou za vlast že mám.
Není země jako země,
hlas přírody mluví to ke mně,
a srdce mé volá s plesem,
v Čechách že já jen doma jsem.
Zde jsem zrozen a pěstován,
od matky české odchován,
ta pod srdcem mě nosila,
slzami lásky zrosila.
Zde léta jsem prožil mladosti,
Zde rajské jsem zažil blahosti.
Protož volám polem lesem :
V Čechách tu já jen doma jsem.
Zde jsem se učil Boha znát,
co dítě otcem svým ho zvát.
Zde můj vzděláván byl rozum
a zde je můj otcovský dům.
Na něj oko mé rádo patří,
zde sestry mé, moji tu bratři.
Mně touha lásky táhne sem,
U nich tu já jen doma jsem.

The Song of a Czech
Language: English  after the Czech (Čeština)
Oh where lies my dear native land?
It bears the fairest name of all.
There is no doubt, I’ll always call
Bohemia my true homeland.
Each land is its own land apart,
I am dancing for joy in my heart.
Nature sings to me loud and clear:
Bohemia, my home is here.
Here I was born and I was bred
as was my mother before me.
With love in her heart she bore me;
her tears of love for me were shed.
All my youthful years I spent right here,
to me a paradise very dear.
Bohemia, forest and field,
hear my call: my true home is here.
Here I learnt to know divine truth,
to call God Father, in my youth,
to know what’s right and know what’s wrong;
here is my home, where I belong.
I delight to see it now once more,
to join my dear siblings once again.
My heart always yearns to return,
to be home with them as before.
