Mě často týrá pochyba
Zdaž láska Tvá je stálá:
A zas mě naděj kolíbá,
Že's věrně milovala.
A znova doufám v lásku Tvou
A vroucněj tisknu Tebe,
Tvé vzdechy k sladké víře zvou
A k blahu očí nebe.
Tu hlavu skloním, srdce mé
Zní tajemnými hlasy:
My sotva šťastni budeme,
A rozvedou nás časy!

I am often wracked by my doubt
Language: English  after the Czech (Čeština)
I am often wracked by my doubt
whether you love me truly;
and yet my hopes console my heart
that you’ve loved me faithfully.
Again I hope for love from you,
hold you in closer embrace;
your sighs bid me believe it’s true;
your divine eyes promise bliss.
I bow my head, for in my heart
mysterious voices chime:
happiness is surely in doubt;
we’ll be torn apart by time!
