Proč, kałino, neprovétáš,
malinama nezasedáš?
Zhora vrabci ozobali,
zdola panny oblámaly.
Já sem dávno prokvétala,
červenýma malinama.
Oblámaly na kytečky,
mládenečkům za klobóčky.
Ulomila každá svému,
já ubohá nemám kemu.

Guelder Rose
Language: English  after the Moravian (Moravština)
Why, guelder rose, don’t you ripen,
why are no berries to be seen?
I did ripen quite long ago,
fine red berries I had to show.
Those up above were pecked by fowl
below young damsels plucked them all.
They plucked them all to make posies,
adorn hats of young admirers.
Each damsel plucked some for her love,
but I’m so sad, I have no love.
