Lied zum 29. Januar 1851
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Wir Kinder kommen all' herein
Sogar die kleine Schwest'!
Und bringen Wünsche zart und fein
Zum heut'gen frohen Fest!
Willkommen sei der schöne Tag
Der dich uns hat gegeben!
Wir wünschen dir viel tausendmal
Ein glücklich frohes Leben!
Hübsch artig und gehorsam hier,
So brave Kinderlein!
Schön ruhig und still und niemals schreÿn
Und immer dich erfreu'n.
Nimm', lieber Vater[,] freundlich hier
Die einfach kleinen Gaben
Von deinen kleinen Töchterlein
Und auch von deinen Knaben!
Verzeih', daß wir als Bauersleut'
So alle kommen rein!
Drum soll es halt zu deiner Freud'
Ein kleines Späßlein sein!
Drum laß' uns jubeln[,] singen und
Dir wünschen langes Leben!
Und dankbar auch dem Himmel sein,
Daß er dich uns gegeben!

Song for the 29th of January 1851
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
We children are all coming in,
Even our little sister!
And are bringing delicate and fine wishes
For today's happy celebration!
May the beautiful day be welcomed,
[The day] that gave you to us!
A thousand times we wish you
A happy, joyful life!
Prettily polite and obedient here,
Such good little children!
Nicely calm and quiet and never screaming
And always bringing you joy.
Dear Father, accept amiably here
The simple little gifts
From your little daughters
And also from your boys!
Forgive us for coming in here
All dressed up as peasants!
It is only supposed to be a bit
Of fun for your enjoyment!
Therefore let us rejoice, sing, and
Wish you a long life!
And also be grateful to Heaven
For giving you to us!
