Idas Wunsch
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Steigt empor, ihr Wünsche mein,
Die das Herz hegt tief und rein,
Dringt empor und saget's laut,
Wie ihr auf Erfüllung baut.
Eine Gabe wünsch ich mir,
Die der Liebe Schönheit hier
Ausspricht in des Silbers Glanz
Gleich der Liebe Blütenkranz.
Möcht es euch so gerne reichen,
So ein lichtes Silberzeichen;
Kindeslieb' erfleht es rein,
Spricht dann leis': "Gedenkt auch mein!"

Ida's wish
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Rise aloft, you my wishes
That my heart cherishes profoundly and purely,
Strive upward and declare loudly
How you bank on being fulfilled.
One gift I wish for myself,
Namely that the beauty of love
May here be uttered in the radiance of silver
Like the flowery wreath of love.
I would so gladly like to pass it to you,
Such a bright silvery sign;
Purely, it pleads for a child’s love,
Then quietly says: "Remember me as well!"
