Lady of Cyprus
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The doves are cooing upon the terrace of the castle,
The hot noontime wind sweeps about sleepily,
Desire is laden with sunshine, -- now offer me
Your lips, black-haired child of the south.
The doves coo and the doves fly,
The roses bloom -- this is the grove of Aphrodite,
I see the radiance nestling about your brow --
You are the goddess herself -- and you are mine.
Note: "Kypris" is another name for the goddess Aphrodite, meaning "Lady of Cyprus."
