Traumkinder nahmen sich bei der Hand,
sie wollten mit einander geh'n
zu suchen der Sehnsucht fernes Land,
das Menschenauge nie geseh'n.

Das stille Land sonder Hass und Qual,
das Menschenfuß niemals erreicht,
ob wir es finden noch einmal?
Traumkinder dachten vielleicht!

Traumkinder zogen am Morgen aus,
ihr Herz war ganz voll Hoffnung froh
und Abends kehrten sie still nach Haus
und weinten und weinten und weinten so.
