by Joseph Karl Benedikt, Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788 - 1857)

Sterbeglocken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nun legen sich die Wogen,
Und die Gewitter schwül
Sind all hinabgezogen,
Mir wird das Herz so kühl.

Die Täler alle dunkeln,
Ist denn das Morgenzeit?
Wie schön die Gipfel funkeln
Und Glocken hör' ich weit.

So hell noch niemals klangen
Sie übern Waldessaum -
Wo war ich denn so lange?
Das war ein schwerer Traum.
