Wie sehr lach' ich die Großen aus, 
Die Blutvergießer, Helden, Prinzen!
Denn mich beglückt ein kleines Haus,
Sie nicht einmal Provinzen.

Wie wüten sie nicht wider sich,
Die göttergleichen Herr'n der Erden!
Doch brauchen sie mehr Raum als ich,

Il mio cuore,in letizia e allegria,
sembra danzare alle melodie del bosco,
e a me gradito é anche il dolore
quando una lacrima, per amore, verso.

Come me la rido dei grandi e potenti,
di chi versa sangue, degli eroi, dei principi,
io mi accontento di una piccola casa,
mentre a loro non bastano intere province.

Come si accaniscono l'un contro l'altro,
simili a dei, i signori della terra!
Ma avranno bisogno di uno spazio maggiore del mio,
quando anche loro verranno sepolti?
