Blonde Tochter schaut herfür,
Bring ihr diese wilde Rose,
Grüß sie einmal noch von mir!»  -- 

Weiter geht's und immer weiter!
Da schweigen alle Vögel bald
Vor mir stehn im Duft die Wälder,
Rückwärts brennt der Abendschein.

Einsam werden Weg' und Stege,
Ganz alleine wandr' ich bald;
Einen Falken seh ich kreisen  -- 
Über mir schon rauscht der Wald.
