Wär ich nun mit gutem Glück --
Wie die Fledermäuse fliegen!
Langsam weicht die Nacht zurück.
Doch indes am Feldessaume
Drüben kaum Aurora glimmt,
Hab ich unterm Lindenbaume
Hier die Fiedel schon gestimmt.
Sieh, dein Kammerfenster blinket
In dem ersten Morgenstrahl;
Heller wird's, die Nacht versinket;
Horch! Da schlug die Nachtigall!
Schlaf nicht mehr! Die Morgenlüfte
Rütteln schon an deiner Tür;
Rings erwacht sind Klang und Düfte,
Und mein Herz verlangt nach dir.
Zu des Gartens Schattendüster
Komm herab, geliebtes Kind!
Nur im Laub ein leis Geflüster --
Und verschwiegen ist der Wind.
