Sprich, wie kansch di freue, Un wie kansch de klage? Bisch e' todts Metall. Aber uns're Lide, Aber uns're Freude De verstehsch se all! Ebes wunderbarli's, Was mer nit begrife, Het Gott in di g'legt. 's Herz, es müeßt versinke, Du, de mueßt em helfe, Wenns der Sturm bewegt.

Glocke, klingst so tröstlich, rufest du am Abend, dass es Betzeit sei! Glocke, klingst so traurig, rufest du: das bittre Scheiden ist vorbei! Sprich, wie kannst du klagen? Wie kannst du dich freuen? Bist ein tot Metall. Aber unsre Leiden, aber unsre Freuden, die verstehst du all! Gott hat Wunderbares, was wir nicht begreifen, Glock', in dich gelegt. Muss das Herz versinken, du nur kannst ihm helfen, wenn's der Sturm bewegt.
