Wenn man ihn freilich seitwärts neigt,
zerfällt, was oben gilt.

O Mensch, gesetzt, du spiegelst dich
im, sagen wir, -- im All!
Und senkrecht! -- wärest du dann nich
ganz in demselben Fall?

Un bouchon blond se mirait
dans un plateau laqué --
mais pourtant il ne pouvait se voir,
même s'il avait eu des yeux.

La raison en était qu'il se tenait à l'aplomb
de son image dans le miroir !
Bien sûr si on le penchait de côté,
Ce qui est valable au-dessus se renverserait.

Ô homme, c'est établi, tu te mires
dans -- dirions-nous  -- dans tout !
Et d'aplomb ! -- ne serais-tu donc pas
dans le même cas ?
