 Schlaf nun und ruhe in Träumen voll Duft,
 Balsam'scher umweh dich die Luft,
 Als dem magischen Brand der Phönix entsteigt,
 Wenn er sein eigenes Grablied singt.
 Schlaf nun und ruh in Träumen voll Lust,
 Du, die treueste, liebendste Brust!
 Sie sprach's, und Himmelshauch durchfließt
 Von ihren Lippen diese Stelle,
 Sie schwingt den Strahlenkranz und gießt
 Auf beider Antlitz solche Helle,
 Daß wie ein Heil'genpaar sie lagen.
 Indes die Peri wacht und Licht
 Mild strahlt in ihre Todesnacht,
 Bis ihre Seelen auferwacht.

 Comme le Phénix s'élève du feu magique
 Quand il chante son propre chant de mort.
 Dors maintenant et repose dans des rêves plein de joie,
 Toi, la plus fidèle, le sein le plus aimant ! 
 Elle a parlé et le souffle du ciel traverse
 De ses lèvres cet endroit,
 Elle agite l'auréole et verse
 Sur leurs deux visages une lumière telle
 Qu'ils apparaissent comme un couple de saints.
 Pendant ce temps la Péri veillait et une lumière 
 Douce resplendit dans leur nuit de mort,
 Jusqu'à ce que leurs âmes s'éveillent.
