Der Einsame

Ich steh' so einsam in der Welt,
Verlassen und verkannt.
's ist Keiner, der an mich sich hält
Im weiten Erdenland!

Sie meinen, daß ich kalt wie Stein, 
Weil ich so finster bin:  
Säh' einer mir ins Herz hinein, 
Er fände Liebe d'rin. 

Da geh'n sie her, da geh'n sie hin, 
Es kennt mich Keiner hier; 
Sie ahnen keinen Brudersinn, 
Kein gleiches Herz in mir. 

Doch, tröstend, säuselt, glänzt und lacht 
Natur mich freundlich an: 
Ihr dank' ich's, daß die Erdennacht  
Ich fest durchschreiten kann.
