gib mir Friede, du traulich sanfte Stille!
Laß beim Ruhgesäusel der jungen Zweige sanft mich entschlummern.
Geister des Unmuts düstern mir den Schauplatz
meines Lebens, und wilde Bluteswogen
stürmen feindlich Glauben und Hoffnung aus dem zitternden Herzen.
Wiege mich dann dein sanftes Ruhgesäusel
wie ein mütterlich Lied in Balsamschlummer,
daß ich schaudernd koste des schöner'n Lebens erste Gefühle.
