Lasset fließen eure Tränen ihr Freunde
hingewelkt, in der vollster Blüte, 
abgepflückt im Lenz der Jahre,
Ist die gute Jeanette
Das sanfteste, das freundlichste der Mädchen.
Decke leicht und sanft ihre Asche
Gütige Mutter Erde;
Und du lieblicher Mai,
der du sie blüh’n und welken sah’st,
rufe, rufe wenn Natur dich verjüngt, Deinen Zephir, 
und laß’ ihn Blumen streuen auf ihr Grab.
Blumen, ihrer Reize und ihrer Tugenden Bild
Das bescheidene Veilchen, das sanfte Maienblümchen, 
Rosen, Lilien und Vergiß’ mein nicht.
