by Franz (Eduard) Hermann von Hermannsthal (1799 - 1875)

Hausliedchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Frag' ich den Landmann Abends:
Wo eilst du hin?
"Nach Hause!"
Lacht er mit frohem Sinn.

Wenn ich den Wand'rer frage:
Wo kommst du her?
"Vom Hause!"
Sagt er, und seufzet schwer.

Wenn ich den Freund befrage:
Wo blüht dein Glück?
"Zu Hause!"
Tönt mir sein Wort zurück.

Und wenn ihr mich dann fraget:
"Wo sinnst du hin?"
Nach Hause
Steht mein getreuer Sinn!

Confirmed with Franz (Eduard) Hermann von Hermannsthal, Mein Lebenslauf in der Fremde, Freiburg im Breisgau: Fr. Wagner'sche Buchhandlung, 1837. Appears in Sehnsucht nach der Heimath, page 17.
