by Karl Stieler (1842 - 1885)

Stille Trauer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Das war für mich ein Todestag,
Da du mich hast verlassen,
's ist lange her -- schon treibt der Wind
Das Herbstlaub durch die Gassen.

Schon glimmt an deinem Herd so traut
Das stille Winterfeuer,
Doch über meiner Seele liegt
Noch heut der schwarze Schleier.

Und in verwaisten Nächten oft
Durchrieselt mich ein Schauer --
Das Trauerjahr ist längst zu End',
Wann endet wohl die Trauer?
