by Ludwig Bowitsch (1818 - 1881)

Krone und Leier
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es liegt ein [goldene]1 Krone
Versunken im tiefen Rhein,
Und wer die Krone gewinnet,
Wird deutscher Kaiser sein!

Es liegt ein goldene Leier
Versunken im tiefen Rhein,
Und wer sie gewinnet, wird Sänger
Der deutschen Freiheit sein!

Wohl herrschen viel edle Fürsten
In Deutschland's weiter Gemein,
Doch ach, die goldene Krone
Will Keinem beschieden sein!

Wohl greifen viel edle Sänger
In rauschende Saiten ein,
Doch keiner singt die Freiheit
In's deutsche Land herein!
