Die Heimkehr
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wieder in der Väter Hallen
kehr' nach Jahren ich zurück;
Lieb' und Freude mich umwallen,
Eine nur fehlt meinem Glück.

Eine, die voll Lieb' hienieden
mir des Lebens Kränze bot!
Ach, sie ist dahingeschieden,
meines Lebens Lust ist tot.

Alles, alles find' ich wieder,
nur ihr Kämmerlein ist leer;
leise tönt's durch Jubellieder:
Ach, sie lacht mir nimmermehr!
