An die Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Stille Nacht, o sink hernieder,
deck' die Welt mit deinem Schleier zu,
bring' dem müden Herzen wieder,
was es lang ersehnt: die süße Ruh'.

Was der Sonne Strahl versengte,
das erquicke nun dein Tau aufs Neu',
was der Sorge Last beengte,
atme nun in deinem Frieden frei.

Trockne du des Kummers Tränen,
heil' die Leiden, die der Tag geschafft,
stille du des Herzens Sehnen
und verleih' dem Müden neue Kraft.

Mög' das Aug' ein Schlummer schließen,
den kein schlimmes Traumbild plötzlich schreckt,
dass zu Schaffen und Genießen
neu gestärkt der Tag uns weckt!
