Der blinde Hirtenknabe

Am letzten Haus im Dorfe, wo 
das Abendglöckchen klingt,
da sitzt ein blinder Hirtenknab'
mit bleicher Wang' und singt:

„Ich hab' geweint gar manchen Tag,
gar manche lange Nacht,
weil man die Liebste auf der Welt
zu Grabe hat gebracht.

Nun ist mein Augenlicht verlöscht
vor vielem Herzeleid,
doch in dem Inner'n seh' ich fort
die schöne, süße Maid.

Und wenn ich wieder sehen sollt',
so möcht' mir Weh' gescheh'n,
denn alles würd' ich um mich her,
nur nicht die Liebste seh'n.
