by Theresa Gröhe, née Pauli (1853 - 1929), as T. Resa

Morgen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Frühwind schauert schon in den Bäumen
Und zu Ende gehet die Rast:
Herz, mein Herz! und du willst noch träumen
Daß du bleibende Stätte hast?

Drohend schon, in fernen Gewittern,
Zuckte im Osten ein fahler Schein,
Während du, in Jauchzen und Zittern,
Dich in den Himmel träumtest hinein.

Leise, leise schon pocht der Jammer
Draußen am Thor, dein finst'rer Gast. --
-- Frühwind haucht um die dunkle Kammer --
Und zu Ende gehet die Rast.

Confirmed with Fliegende Blätter, 106. Band, ed. by J. Schneider, München: Braun & Schneider, 1897, page 223. Appears in issue dated 4 Juni 1897, no. 2706.
