by Joseph Stierle-Holzmeister (1781 - 1848)

Das kranke Vöglein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Auf einem drürren Aste
ein kleines Vögleich saß,
erschöpft vom weiten Fluge,
vom kalten Regen nass.

Die Schar der frohen Brüder
zog fort zum Heimatland
und ließ das kranke Vöglein
zurück am öden Strand.

Sein mattes, banges Rufen,
sein sehnsuchtsvoller Blick
hielt keinen der Gefährten
vom raschen Flug zurück.

Es lockte, bis im Westen
das Abendrot erblasst,
hob noch einmal die Schwingen
und sank vom dürren Ast.
