by Thomas Moore (1779 - 1852)
Translation by Karl Alfred Melin (1849 - 1919)

Do not say that life is waning
Language: English
Do not say that life is waning,
Or that hope's sweet day is set;
While I've thee and love remaining,
Life is in the horizon yet.

Do not think those charms are flying,
Tho' thy roses fade and fall;
Beauty hath a grace undying,
Which in thee survives them all.

Not for charms, the newest, brightest,
That on other cheeks may shine,
Would I change the least, the slightest.
That is lingering now o'er thine.

Säg ej så
Language: Swedish (Svenska)  after the English
Säg ej så, att lifvet mister
all sin fägring mer och mer,
om blott ej vår kärlek brister,
har ej lifvets sol gått ner.

Tro ej, att behagen fara
såsom kindens rosor bort
Skönhet måste evig vara,
om den är af ädel sort.

Ej för all den fagra yta
allt behag en annan har,
ville jag det minsta byta
af den skönhet du har qvar.
